Skin RejuvenationFractionated Laser ResurfacingTreatment with the Fraxel® laser is a truly revolutionary approach to improving the appearance of the skin. The laser precisely targets numerous microscopic areas of the skin using tiny focused columns of laser light. The microscopic beams of light penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin breaking down old, damaged skin and stimulating the body's own natural healing processes to produce new, healthier skin. By design, the laser targets about 20 percent of the skin's surface area during each treatment session, leaving the remaining untreated skin to help rapidly heal the treated areas. Down time is usually minimal after the treatments with redness and sometimes mild swelling generally resolving within a few days. The Fraxel® laser is safe for all skin types and may be used to improve the appearance of skin at nearly any body site including the face, neck, chest, and hands. Maximum results are generally achieved through a series of three to six treatment sessions. The skin's appearance may be quickly enhanced and continue to improve for months after the treatments. Wrinkles, acne scarring, sun damage, and melasma (the "mask of pregnancy") may all be improved with this laser therapy. The result is smoother, fresher, healthier looking skin. In the Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Center, our patients are treated with the newest, most effective version of this laser - the Fraxel® 1500. Non-Ablative Laser Treatment (CoolTouch® or NLite® Laser)Non-ablative laser therapy using either the CoolTouch®or NLite® lasers is intended to improve the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles or depressed scars. Non-ablative laser treatment uses an intense beam of light to gently stimulate the production of new collagen while bypassing the outer layer of skin. This stimulated collagen growth may improve skin tone, acne scarring and fine wrinkles. Over time the skin may gradually "rebuild" from the inside to restore a more youthful appearance and feel, as the new collagen softens the appearance of aging skin and scars. Non-ablative (or "non-wounding") laser skin rejuvenation involves gentler laser technology that does not remove skin, and results in minimal downtime and recovery. Non-ablative laser therapy generally requires a series of treatments to achieve maximum benefits. |
