Computer Support Staff

The Cell and Developmental Biology department provides computer setup and troubleshooting for graduate students, faculty and staff. Support is provided for Macintosh and Windows systems.

Computer setup includes installation of operating systems, printers, Medical School licensed software (Photoshop, Acrobat, Lasergene DNA), and setup on the local network, including internet and email access. We provide setup for your University of Michigan Uniqname, as well as the University of Michigan BCP (Basic Computing Package), which includes free dialup internet access and web space on the University servers.

The computer consultants provide assistance in troubleshooting most business applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as web Browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari), and email clients (Eudora, Mulberry, Outlook, and OSX Mail). They use an online trouble-ticket tracking system to provide accurate and timely support.

They also provide access to and use of our departmental servers for safe storage of important files, with remote access capabilities, and can assist with most computer related purchases, through the University of Michigan Mstores that provides products at significant educational discounts for departmental purchase.
