Orthotics and Prosthetics

The Orthotics and Prosthetics Department faces the difficult challenge of returning mobility and independence to patients. Together, as a team, we see a large variety of patients with varied ailments. However, you're most important job will be working closely with patients and physicians to determine the best way to fabricate and fit the patient with the device that best suits their needs.

With the advancements in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthotics and Prosthetics is more important than ever. Doctors are prescribing corrective devices for pediatric patients, such as cranial molding helmets and lower extremity orthotics, to help prevent physical ailments in their adulthood. Many Baby Boomers have diabetes, muscular and skeletal issues, or other maladies that require a certified practitioner to help correct before the issue becomes more complex. By getting foot inserts, compression stockings and other orthotic devices, senior patients are better able to do day-to-day activities with more comfort and self-esteem. Physicians are prescribing prosthetic devices to help patients continue their lives closer to what they have been accustomed. Being part of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthotics and Prosthetics helps people get back to the life they had prior to their illness or injury.
