Before You Begin.

At UMHS, we put our values into action each day with a high level of ethics, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to always do our best. To continue this tradition of excellence requires finding candidates who understand our values. That's why we use an extensive Pre-Employment Program (PEP) screening process.

How do I get started?

Permanent positions with U of M can be viewed at UMjobs.org if you haven't done so already, create a user registration by clicking "External Candidates & Temporary Staff Job Search" and then save a resume to your account. After completing these two steps, you're ready to begin applying!

What's involved with PEP screening?

The PEP screening begins with a comprehensive telephone pre-screening interview. As a well-prepared applicant, you should be able to answer questions related to your most recent five years of work history, including the accurate months and years that you both started and ended with each employer. At the end of a successful telephone interview, there may be more in-depth screening ahead — skill testing, face-to-face interviewing and background and employment reference checks — on an as-needed basis. A list of the most commonly asked questions can be viewed in the Frequently Asked Questions section.

PEP appointments

Depending on your specific skill set, the results of your telephone interview and the staffing needs at UMHS, you may be selected for the opportunity for more in-depth screening. The PEP Representative will schedule your appointment - as needed. To make for a quicker screening, please download and print all documents within the Appointment Packet.

PEP screening and the Americans with Disabilities Act

If you are a person with a disability who requires accommodation, please contact Matthew D. Woods at 734-936-8790. Please be aware that advance notice is necessary as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.
