Voices Art Gallery: Current Show
"Ribbons of Memories" Weaving
Candle Lighting for Hope and Remembrance
September 21 through October, 2013United in grief and loss, individuals gathered at the UM Cancer Center to remember loved ones that have died. The cloth ribbons in this weaving were the writing surface for messages, memories, and images. Individuals then wove their ribbons onto the metal grid, allowing for a release of grief energy. The completed weaving contains the sum of emotions from the gathering. It created both a bond between the community of individuals grieving the loss of loved ones and a beautiful art memorial.
The Voices Art Gallery was made possible through a generous gift by the FRIENDS of the University Hospital. The Art Therapy Program is made possible by gifts to the Robert Bruce Dunlap Memorial Fund and the Helen and Sonya Fund at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
