Ann Arbor - Sign up for the
University of Michigan Men's Football Experience
and learn what it's like to suit up in the locker room, walk down the famous tunnel and
play on the field of the Big House.
The program, now in its 3rd year, will be held May 30-31 and proceeds will benefit the "Men of Michigan" Prostate Cancer Research Fund's efforts to accelerate bench-to-bedside discoveries.
"Participants will experience the great tradition of Michigan football which includes touring Schembechler Hall and walking down the famous tunnel into the Big House. Our entire coaching staff will participate so you can experience what it's like to be a Michigan player," says Coach Brady Hoke.
For two days, players will experience on-field training in offensive and defensive schemes and special teams, attend a team meeting in
Schembechler Hall, review practice film, and learn what it takes to be a winning team. The program hopes to bring its total raised for cancer
research to more than $1 million. This year, more than 217,000 Americans will be diagnosed with prostate cancer year and 32,050 will die from
the disease, according to the American Cancer Society
.
The cost for the two-day experience is $5,000 per person and includes meals and overnight accommodations. Participants will receive an authentic Adidas game jersey, practice t-shirt, shorts, autographed football, a leather duffel bag, the team photo, and camp highlights on DVD. Space is limited to 116 participants - which equals the number of lockers in the Michigan Stadium team locker room.
Joseph Taylor, of Santa Monica, CA, who attended the camp in 2006 and 2007, says the experience stuck with him. He states, "The very best thing about each camp was meeting and experiencing some of the vast brotherhood of my beloved university, who cared as much as I do about Michigan football."
Including expected donations through 2012, the MMFE will raise in excess of $1 million to fund cancer research. Research, like football, is a team sport. It requires many members, each playing an important role.
