Ann Arbor - The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center will host a Men's Fellowship Breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Marriott Conference Center at Eagle Crest, 1275 S. Speakers will include:

  • Maha Hussain, M.D.,
U-M professor of medicine and urology and associate director of clinical research at the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center whose research focuses on prostate cancer therapy

  • Jeffrey Montgomery, M.D.,
U-M associate professor of urology who clinically treats prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is the second most common form of cancer in American men, according to the American Cancer Society. Overall, the lifetime risk for developing prostate cancer is about 1 in 6.

"In particular, African American men are disproportionately affected by prostate cancer," says Aisha Langford, director of community outreach at the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center. "The Men's Fellowship Breakfast series is a fun and informative way to bridge the gap between this community and our academic medical center. With this event we hope to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to provide information as to why research is critical to finding better treatments."
