Adrenal Cancer
How You Can Help
Adrenal cancer is both extremely rare and extremely deadly. This is why research is so important.
About 200 Americans are diagnosed with the disease each year with nearly no chance of survival at five years for those diagnosed with advanced disease. Two funds have been established to support adrenal cancer research efforts:
Millie Schembechler Adrenal Cancer Fund
The U-M Cancer Center has one of the few multidisciplinary adrenal cancer treatment programs in the world. Its adrenal cancer program is one of the best in the country, thanks largely to an endowment from former U-M football coach Bo Schembechler, whose wife, Millie, died from adrenal cancer in 1992. The Schembechler endowment is the only endowed professorship and research fund in adrenal cancer in the country.Spencer Bell Memorial Fund
The Spencer Bell Memorial Fund aims to raise awareness for adrenal cancer research, support research and provide a training ground for young students interested in a career in medicine or science through sponsorship of summer research fellowships in laboratories associated with the Adrenal Cancer Program.
