Health Disparities Research
The University-wide Health Disparities Research Program provides a unified academic home for clinical and translational researchers who are studying health disparities. The HDRP is committed to interdisciplinary science designed to reduce and eliminate disparities in health and health care. We believe there is a need for resources and infrastructure designed to increase the quality of science focusing on health disparities.
Our mission is to facilitate, conduct and, disseminate rigorous clinical, translational health disparities research. To accomplish this we have developed a collaborative network of health disparities researchers at the UM. MICHR faculty and staff from the Medical School, the Institute for Social Research, School of Public Health, School of Social Work, School of Dentistry, Ross School of Business, School of Nursing, and the National Center for Institutional Diversity meet monthly. Participating faculty provide MICHR programs with consultation on hypothesis generation, research policy, and innovative methods for clinical research. They suggest infrastructure solutions and provide expertise for developing new curriculum focusing on health disparities for trainees, faculty, and staff.
