Announcing the 2012 Holiday Hours at the Biomedical Research Core Facilities

Holiday Hours 2012As in past years, many of the staff of the BRCF will be using their University Season Days between December 25 and January 1. The schedule for the individual facilities during the holidays is given below.

Bioinformatics Core (B25 NCRC): Services will not be available Dec. 25 through Jan. 1. Please contact Jim Cavalcoli at cavalcol@umich.edu for the specific questions.

Biomedical Research Store
(2580 MSRB II; 2297 LSI; A681 BSRB; 8054 Brehm; 179 B14 NCRC): The Brehm store will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24. All sites except the Brehm site will be open for business until 5:00 p.m. Dec.24. All store sites will reopen at 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 2. The deadline for special orders to be placed will be 10:00 a.m. on Wed., Dec. 19.

Biosafety Containment Core (3566 MSRB II): Please contact Steven King, Ph.D., (763-4859) for the specific holiday schedule.

DNA Sequencing Core (B14 NCRC)
The DNA Sequencing Core's remote sample drop-off locations will follow their normal schedules through Friday, Dec. 21: the Kraus site will close at 12 p.m., the LSI site will close at 3:15 p.m., and the Brehm site will close at 5 p.m. The main sample drop-off desk in 2568 MSRB II will close at 4:30 p.m. The NCRC B14, Rm 122 drop-off desk will be open on Monday, Dec. 24 until 4:30 p.m. but minimal processing of data will occur on this day. All Core operations will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2. To receive results before December 21, please watch the Core's website for notice of turnaround times and any holiday deadlines. For NextGen sequencing and microarray analysis, please contact the Core technician(s) responsible for that analysis.

Flow Cytometry Core
7416/7410 Cancer and Geriatrics Center: The Flow Core will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. The Flow Core will operate with reduced capacity and reduced hours (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) Dec. 26-31. Experiments should be scheduled in advance as usual. However, since the week before Christmas tends to be very busy, investigators who wish to have experiments performed during that time (Dec. 17-21) should schedule their experiments as soon as possible. 3222 Life Sciences Institute: The Flow Cytometry Core Satellite will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. A701 BSRB: The Flow Cytometry Core Satellite will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. 134D B20W NCRC: The Flow Cytometry Core Satellite will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. Biosafety Containment Core: The Flow Cytometry Core Satellite will be closed December 24 through January 1.

Metabolomics Core (6300 Brehm/Suite 100 Traverwood IV): Services will not be available after 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24. Services will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Microscopy & Image Analysis Laboratory
MIL-North (53S B20 NCRC): For those users who have been trained and already have access to MIL-North, rooms 49S and 50S will be fully available for use but there will be no training services Dec. 24 through Jan 1. Please feel free to contact Chris Edwards (fishon@umich.edu) for any concerns during this time. This also applies to the MIL at BSRB.

Biochemical Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core
(1553 CC Little): Please contact Scott Woehler, Ph.D. at 763-9284 for the specific holiday schedule.

Proteomics and Peptide Synthesis Core (2560A/2568 MSRB II): Services will not be available after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20. The Core will resume services at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Please contact Dr. Henriette Remmer at hremmer@umich.edu for specific questions.

Transgenic Animal Model Core (2578 MSRB II/2526 MSRB I): Services will not be available after 5:00 p.m. Dec. 21. The Core will reopen at 9:00 a.m. Jan. 2. Please contact tgcore@umich.edu for specific questions.

FREE Protein Identification of One Sample at the Proteomics & Peptide Synthesis Core

Proteomics and Peptide Synthesis Core IconDr. Henriette Remmer is looking forward to providing expanded service and helping even more researchers. The Proteomics & Peptide Synthesis Core is enhancing its peptide synthesis and pricing options in order to better serve its clients.

In addition, the Core is now offering FREE analysis of one protein sample per Core client for regular protein identification of gel bands.

There will be limited availability to schedule consultations in December, but this exciting offer will continue into 2013. To take advantage of this offer, schedule your project consultation or free quote today.
