Lisa Harris, MD
Lisa Harris, MD joined the faculty in 1998. Dr. Harris' primary research work is in the area of "maternal-fetal conflict"--the balance of interests between a pregnant woman and the fetus she carries. Her doctoral work in American culture continues to explore ethical and political issues of the maternal-fetal relationship, and in addition examines the history of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the United States. She is particularly interested in the role of bioethics in the evolution and development of IVF, and the discourse about IVF in the bioethical literature. Dr. Harris intends to combine clinical work in obstetrics and gynecolocy with research work in the history, ethics, and politics of reproductive medicine. Her other loves include musical theater performance, singing, poetry, and running.
