Michael Fetters, MD, MPH, MA
Dr. Fetters is a family physician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He practices in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Bilingual in Japanese and English, Dr. Fetters directs the Japanese Family Health Program, an clinical program that provides comprehensive, linguistically and culturally sensitive care to the Japanese speaking population of Southeast Michigan.
Dr. Fetters attended Ohio State University College of Medicine, in Columbus, Ohio and completed his residency at the University of North Carolina Family Practice Residency Training Program in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he also served as Chief Resident. During his Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Fellowship training at the University of North Carolina, he earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology. He completed a Master of Arts degree with concentration in anthropology and philosophy in the Inter-Disciplinary Program for Health and Humanities at Michigan State University.
Dr. Fetters current research efforts are focused on the infuence of culture on medical decision making and the ethical ramifications with a focus on Japan and the United States.
