Overview
Members of the pediatric section of anesthesiology at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital are widely recognized and cited for their quality research. Research related to pain assessment, care of children with upper respiratory infection, and monitoring and care of children sedated for medical procedures have contributed to the body of evidence on which national and international standards of care are based. The Mott clinical research team continues to grow its program related to perianesthesia risks and outcomes, with an aim to improve the efficacy and safety of anesthesia and analgesia in children.
Research Activities
Perioperative risk and outcomes in the pediatric population - Recent and ongoing studies have evaluated the perioperative risks posed by upper respiratory infection, sedation and pain practices, as well as obesity and underlying co-morbidities. Current studies are investigating novel methods to objectively assess teh child's risk preoperatively.
