Dr. Gauger is a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology, specializing in pediatric anesthesia. Clinically, she supervises anesthesia fellows, residents, medical students, and CRNAs in the Mott operating rooms. She also provides anesthesia to patients on off-site locations such as MRI, radiation, CT scan, nuclear medicine, and angiography. Teaching activities include monthly lectures on various pediatric anesthesia topics such as liver/renal transplantation, spinal fusions, and neonatal emergencies.

As director of pediatric orthopedic anesthesia, Dr. Gauger acts as a liaison between the orthopedic surgeons and the anesthesiologists. She is responsible for devising and implementing anesthetic protocols for new orthopedic procedures. Currently, she is working on the development and implementation of a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, pre-operative clinic. It is hoped that this clinic will increase the efficiency of the operating rooms while improving patient and family preparedness for surgery.
