Lisa Milligan, MB ChB, FRCA
Visiting Instructor
Lisa Milligan was a Visiting Instructor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan Hospital (2005 – 2007). She was an Attending in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and also in the Department of Anesthesiology at University Hospital.
Lisa has a Bachelor of Science degree in physiology from the University of London. After Medical School at the University of Manchester, intern posts in Manchester and Lancaster, she spent 18 months working in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, before settling upon a career in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. She trained in anesthesiology and critical care in Edinburgh, Scotland (3 years) and Yorkshire, England (5 years). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, she is on the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine in the United Kingdom and has Advanced Training in Intensive Care Medicine, as recognized by the British Intercollegiate Board for training in Intensive Care Medicine(IBTICM).
During her anesthesiology and critical care training, Lisa spent one year undertaking clinical research in patients with acute hepatic encephalopathy, and in patients who had undergone major trauma, in the Intensive Care Unit at St James’ Hospital, Leeds. Subsequently, she spent a year as a Lecturer with the University of Leeds, teaching undergraduates and junior medical staff, whilst continuing with her research. She is currently completing a Masters degree in Anesthesiology with the University of Leeds.
She is a member of the Society for Critical Care Medicine, the European Society for Intensive Care Medicine, and the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
