Dr. Jonathan Haft is Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan. He is board certified in thoracic surgery, general surgery, and surgical critical care. He serves as an intensivist in the Thoracic Intensive Care Unit and as an attending cardiac surgeon at the University of Michigan Hospital as well as the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Hospital. He is the director of the Extracorporeal Life Support Program, the oldest and largest in the country. Dr. Haft completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami. He completed a general surgery residency, thoracic surgery and surgical critical care fellowships at the University of Michigan, and also served as a fellow in Extracorporeal Life Support at U of M. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Haft has an active research interest developing and testing artificial organs. His laboratory affiliation has been continuously funded by the National Institute of Health for more than fifteen years.
