The 19th annual Robert B. Sweet, M.D. Memorial Conference was held at Weber’s Inn on October 1st and 2nd. On Friday evening, many alumni, friends and present members of the U-M Department of Anesthesiology gathered at the Annual Reunion Dinner. Among the dinner guests from out of town were Luis Michelson, M.D., Lori and Hans Stricker, Jane Sweet and Dan Brawner, An-Chi Wu, and Dawn Sweeney.

On Saturday, an audience of 50 attended the conference, whose theme was cardiac anesthesiology. Our guest speaker was former U-M resident and fellow, Luis Michelson, M.D., now of Emory University in Georgia. He spoke on the “Use of Remifentanil in Adult Cardiac Surgery.” Other presenters were members of the U-M Department of Anesthesiology. They included Brian Woodcock, M.D., speaking on “Fast Track Cardiac Anesthesia,” Paul Kazanjian, M.D., who spoke on “TEE: Past, Present, Future...,” and Jeremy Lieberman, M.D., whose topic was“ Perioperative Management of Patients with Permanent Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators.”
