For many years the Robert B. Sweet Fund has slowly been gathering donations toward a goal of establishing a Professorship. The Medical School has now formally approved the establishment of the Robert B. Sweet Collegiate Professorship in Anesthesiology. This Professorship will be awarded to a professor in Anesthesiology to perpetuate excellence in residency training and clinical care. A minimum of $500,000 is needed. We are in the process of gathering our alumni telephone lists and you can expect a call asking for your support. We are looking for alumni who would be privileged to be leaders of this campaign with pledges of at least $25,000 over a 5 year period. We have had one substantial contribution and now have almost $200,000 in the fund. Help with telephone calls is also needed.
Please don't wait for our call and instead let us know if you would like to make a special contribution. We will need everyone's support to meet our goal.
There are very few endowed Professorships in Anesthesiology in this country and our department looks forward to being a leader in this endeavor. An endowed Professorship ensures for perpetuity those extra funds so important for providing the excellence factor in resident education.
