MARC

This year the Midwest Anesthesiology Resident's Conference (MARC), will be held for the first time at the University of Michigan, March 24-26. Conference co-directors Paul I. Reynolds, M.D., and Theodore J. Sanford, Jr., M.D., and the rest of the department are honored that the U- M was chosen to host the conference.

Dr. Sanford reports that 72 programs are represented in the Midwestern conference, with the addition of the University of Western Ontario this year. He anticipates 200 papers and posters will be presented. The course is approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for 10 credit hours in Category I of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.

Abstracts for clinical and basic sciences, case reports, literature reviews, and technical reports will be accepted through Feb. 24, 1995. Those received after Feb. 10, 1995 will be accepted upon merit and space availability only. Some of the submissions will be selected for poster presentation. We encourage material that is of general interest to those attending a scientific meeting, and unusual cases, difficult cases, unusual technical approaches or difficulties, and brief reviews of unusual topics in the area of anesthesiology.

Preregister and prepay by March 10, 1995 to guarantee educational materials and lunch. The conference kicks-off with a chair's luncheon hosted by U-M Anesthesiology Department Professor and Chair, Kevin K. Tremper, at 12:00 on Friday, March 24 at the Alumni Center. Friday's meeting is followed by dinner at Escoffier. Saturday's meeting will be held at the Michigan League, and move to the Alumni Center at 5:30 for the Midwest Resident's Caucus. Be prepared for a sporting time at a farewell get together, the MARC Madness Tailgate Party, to finish off the weekend on Saturday evening, 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
