Graduation Dinner 1994

The annual dinner celebrating the completion of residency and fellowship training in anesthesia was held on June 18, 1994 at the Michigan Union. Departmental Chair, Dr. Kevin Tremper, was the host and keynote speaker. Dr. Tremper spoke about the challenges that faced this graduating class of 24 residents and 7 fellows, especially in terms of the changing environment of health care. The guest of honor was Mrs. Robert B. Sweet, wife of the founding chairman of the department.

In addition to presenting certificates of graduation to each resident, they each received the traditional graduation gift of the Michigan Airway Pin. Special honors were presented by Dr. Tremper, Dr. Ted Sanford, Mrs. Sweet, and the Chief residents. Receiving the Resident of the Year Award was Dr. Curtis Carl, while Dr. Mark Weech earned the distinction of having the highest academic scores and was awarded the Award for Academic Excellence. Dr. Jack Rosenberg was a repeat winner of the Resident Research Award. The resident award for the Faculty of the Year, was Dr. Jocelyn Wace.

The evening's festivities also included Dr. Sanford's reading of "Oh, The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. The Chief Residents, Drs. Matthew Hobert, Jim Bischoff, and John Huntington, presented a short speech to the faculty and guests. The evening continued with music and dancing.
