Fellowship Training: |
Fellowship Opportunities in Obstetrical Anesthesia1 Fellow per Academic YearThe Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship consists of one year of advanced clinical training in all aspects of Obstetrical Anesthesia at the University of Michigan Health System-Women's Hospital under the direction of Monica Servin, MD, Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship Program Director. We have an Obstetric Anesthesia faculty consisting of six whom work closely with the fellow. Fellows will be expected to master the anesthetic management of not only routine labor and delivery but also a case mix of cesarean delivery, dilation & curettage, postpartum tubal ligation, periumbilical blood sampling (PUBS), ex utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT) procedures and fetal surgeries. Fellows will be assigned flexible rotations in labor & delivery where they will run the floor supervising and directing anesthesia residents. In addition, staffing rooms at the University's Main hospital once a week will help maintain general anesthesia skills. Fellows will also be expected to participate in the section's research and lecture efforts, and attend the SOAP conference. A two month obstetric anesthesia rotation at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA is available as part of the fellowship training which offers a unique dimension to our obstetric anesthesia fellowship.
