Supported Projects
MADRC resources have been provided for the following projects:
Home Based Assessment (HBA) – an observational study aimed at developing more efficient and sensitive home based testing methods for elderly subjects who could potentially develop memory problems and Alzheimer's disease. The study will evaluate cognitively healthy older adults using one of three different in-home assessment methods to serve as a comparison with traditional in-clinic assessments. Study is currently enrolling.
Single visit trial to collect memory test information, blood and urine from healthy adults – a study run in conjunction with Pfizer, Inc. Blood and urine samples and memory test results are collected from healthy older adults to be compared with samples and tests collected from people who have Alzheimer’s disease. Study is currently enrolling.
Feasibility of an adapted Tai Chi home training program and its effects on elders with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers (Tai Chi) – a study that is testing the feasibility of a caregiver assisted Tai Chi fall risk reduction program and exploring its effects on older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and their family caregivers. Study is currently enrolling.
A pilot study to explore ways to help improve personal memory and quality of caregiver - care recipient relationship. This study, Recapturing Personal History in Dementia, is investigating how the development of memory aids about the person's life might help individuals with dementia to retain personal identity information.
