Education
The Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center (MADC) is committed to serving as a local and statewide resource on Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The MADC education and outreach objective is to build relationships to streamline resources within U-M and throughout the community to maximize our service impact.
Two key initiatives help us reach this objective:
- Coordination of a U-M Dementia Consortium. Established in September 2011, the consortium is comprised of dementia experts from various U-M departments and institutions. The consortium aims to: a) serve as a centralized U-M memory loss and dementia resource and b) develop and implement programs and/or materials designed to meet the education needs of U-M patients and families affected by memory loss or dementia. The first consortium task was the development of a UMHS-wide call center called, U-M Memory Connection. The goal of U-M Memory Connection is to help individuals and families affected by memory and/or thinking changes to learn about services in an easy, non-stressful way.
