Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disease that causes memory loss, personality changes, impaired thinking and problems with everyday activities. These changes are caused by the death of brain cells and the breakdown of the connections between them.

Dementia is a group of symptoms including memory loss and impaired thinking. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. There are over 80 other causes of dementia, including Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, stroke, depression, drug reactions, brain injury and poor nutrition.
