New Call: Clinical Competitive Pilot Grant Program.
The Clinical Simulation Center will support a second round of a competitive grant program for pilot studies that focus on optimal health care team function. The CSC will make available a up to a total of $30,000, to support up to two pilot grants of $15,000 each.
Project Requirement: focus on clinical simulation research on optimal health care teams (e.g., function, communication, patient care handoffs, related patient outcomes).
The further criteria upon which the pilot study application will be judged include:
- Significance of the problem to be addressed (e.g., evidence that the issue constitutes a problem in our teaching and practice environment, e.g. UMHS-identified sentinel events; potential for influencing patient outcomes)
- Clarity of study questions/hypotheses and rigor of research methods
- Feasibility of completing the project in 18 months
- Provides evidence supporting the reliability and validity of proposed study measures.
- Extent to which the project could extend what we know about education using clinical simulation.
- Extent to which the project does or could involve other medical disciplines and departments; likely to generate methods and findings applicable to multiple disciplines and departments
- Contributes to the development of innovative methods for assessing performance and outcomes
- Clear utilization of clinical simulation to accomplish project goals
Please include a budget that specifies what resources you would draw on from the Clinical Simulation Center and how you would allocate the grant stipend.
The Pilot Funding Project is not intended for sponsorship of workshops, video production, or established projects.
Due date for application: March 5, 2012.
Please e-mail a copy of your completed pilot study proposal to Dawn Harris at dmharris@umich.edu . Please feel free to contact Patricia B. Mullan, Ph.D. pbmullan@umich.edu if there are questions you would like addressed. Thank you.
