Research: Young Scholars Summer Program

As part of its goal to encourage future investigators in the neurosciences, the PNR&D supports a Young Scholars Summer Program. This program offers summer internships to outstanding undergraduate students interested in neurological research. Scholars are trained in a wide range of laboratory procedures, including immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, animal surgery, protein analysis, cell culture and microscopy.

Each student is assigned to a PNR&D research team. Scholars conclude the summer with final presentations of their research findings to the lab director and members of the research teams. The PNR&D Scholars spend 10 weeks in the laboratory and receive a stipend of $3,000.

NOTE: PNR&D does not provide housing. Scholars are responsible for finding their own housing. Following are some sites that may help:
