Gene Therapy

Research into gene therapy focuses on developing gene transfer therapies for diseases of the nervous system. Recombinant replication-defective vectors are created by modification of herpes simplex virus to deliver and express transgenes in central and peripheral nervous system.

Gene therapy research projects are in process with the intent to develop an understanding of the molecular mechanisms of the transgene effect while moving forward towards the development of an effective human therapy.
