I came to Michigan because I had an excellent impression of the residents and was very impressed with the overall structure of the program. There seemed to be a strong camaraderie and teamwork within the residency program. I like the program because it provides a great environment for learning, and offers a fine balance of autonomy and staff support. The attending staff have a vast wealth of knowledge and research expertise, and yet are very down to earth, surprisingly fun and enjoyable to work with. It's been an amazing past three years of training, and I've meet great people along the way. Though the city of Ann Arbor is relatively small, there are a lot of cultural and outdoor activities to get involved in. Since being here, I've learned sailing, rowing on a crew team and salsa dancing. On Wednesdays, many of us within the Neurology Department play Ultimate Frisbee, which has been a blast!
