Beginning with the FALL 2015 term, ALL clinical placement requests must be submitted through ACEMAPP, the Alliance for Clinical Experience Matching and Placement Program, through the Michigan Health Council. If you are not currently a member of ACEMAPP, you will need to register as a guest in order to submit requests and student information. You may contact ACEMAPP through Customer Support on the ACEMAPP website https://michigan.acemapp.org/ or by contacting Rachel Bunnell, the ACE Program Coordinator, directly at Rachel.Bunnell@mhc.org
All students participating in a clinical placement at UMHS must enroll in ACEMAPP for tracking of compliance requirements. These include required immunizations, Flu vaccine, TB screening, BLS certification, Background Checks and Drug Screens.
Requests for observational experiences for students already placed in a rotation must also be submitted through ACEMAPP.
Non-UM graduate student requests can only be accommodated after all U of M Ann Arbor School of Nursing graduate student placements have been secured. Please use the following timeline when requesting graduate student preceptors through the ACEMAPP System:
APRNs at UMHS independently determine whether they will precept students. You must contact them directly to secure a placement. The Clinical Placement Office is unable to provide assistance in this aspect. Please include the preceptor’s name in your ACEMAPP request.
All student and instructor names must be submitted each term through the UMHS Identity Registration System (IRS).
Student and instructor information must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the start of the term. This will ensure adequate time for our IT department to process computer logins and enable students to complete institutional requirements and documentation training prior to the start of their clinical session. You will be notified by our Clinical Placement Office several weeks prior to the IRS upload deadline.
Additions, deletions, or changes to student or faculty names must be submitted through the IRS. If a student withdraws for any reason, you must delete them from the IRS immediately in accordance with our UMHS Compliance Policy.
PLEASE NOTE: If there is a need to extend a student or instructor's account beyond the current semester's end date, the request must be made to firstname.lastname@example.org before the account expires. Once the account expires for the term, accounts will not be recreated. Please submit the reason for the extension, the course number, the new requested end date, the student or instructor’s name, uniqname and UM identification number.
All instructors and students with a clinical placement at UMHS will be granted access to our computer systems based upon the placement location and the specifications of the role within the Health System.

PLEASE NOTE: Observational experiences can only be arranged through the UMHS Clinical Placement Office during the SON placement request period. Individual instructors may not approach units to ask to bring students there for observational experiences or visits.
ONLINE PREREQUISITES IN MLEARNING (UMHS Learning Management System)
Once the students and instructors have received their Level 2 user IDs and passwords, they should login to MLearning and locate their required learning activities on their Learning Plan. The required learning activities are also listed by student type on the Resources tab Institutional Requirements List. Instructions on how to login to MLearning from off site can be found on the Resources tab.
Non-UM students will complete 3 of their institutional requirements (HIPPA, Blood Borne Pathogens and OSHA) in ACE.
PLEASE NOTE: All institutional requirements must be completed prior to the first clinical day on the unit. A form verifying student and instructor completion of all institutional requirements must be submitted to Clinical Placement by each instructor within one week of the start of the term. Nursing students and clinical nursing instructors who do not comply with the requirements will not be permitted in the clinical setting.
