Health Education and Resources
Purpose
The purpose of the Health Education and Resources Division is to enhance the knowledge of multicultural health issues for health professionals, allied health students, scholars, and community organizers. The HERD accomplishes this by engaging in health services research, designing and disseminating health education programs, interventions, and activities that promote healthier lifestyle behaviors among culturally diverse communities. The HERD has three-core areas:
- Health Education Projects
- Community Internship Program
- Health Information System.
Role
The HERD enhances knowledge of multicultural groups by:
- provides culturally appropriate health information and resources for health professionals, academia and the community
- provides health promotion, health education and health assessments to the community
- develops pedagogies and practica for students in medicine and the allied health sciences to increase their knowledge and experience in working with culturally diverse populations.
