Cutaneous Oncology Clinical Database and Biobank Program

The Cutaneous Oncology Clinical Database and Biobank Program collects skin cancer tissue samples and clinical data for use in skin cancer research. Our department is highly collaborative with many services (e.g., Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Head and Neck Surgery, and Plastic Surgery) permitting us to enroll thousands of skin cancer patients into our biobank and database each year.
Dermatology research coordinators maintain our IRB protocols, update our clinical database in REDCap and collect skin cancer tissue and blood samples from patients treated in our clinics. From a clinical and translational point of view this program seeks to assimilate data and specimens with experimental models to identify molecular mechanisms of disease and advance rational strategies for better treatment.
