Laurie Hartman has been an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for 9 years and has been the manager of the Advanced Practice Team for CVC critical care for the past 5 1/2 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Washington in 1994 and Master of Science in Nursing as well as her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Michigan in 1997. She has worked as a nurse practitioner both at the University of Michigan and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, specializing in Cardiac Surgery and Heart/Lung Transplantation. She's held national certification as a Transplant Coordinator since 2000. She has a special interest in human factors studies and communication issues that affect patient safety.
