The Guest Assistance Program, created through the Department of Social Work, recognizes that patients and families sometimes have needs beyond medical care. That's why we're here - to connect patients and families with support services and resources to meet those additional needs.
The office is staffed by nine Social Work Assistants who dedicate their time to problem-solving, researching community resources, and assisting social workers and their patients with the coordination of services to meet a variety of tangible needs.
Below is just a sampling of some of the services offered by the Guest Assistance Program:
- Financial assistance for transportation, parking, lodging to patients and families who qualify
- Meal assistance in emergent situations for qualified families
- Help with arranging transportation and lodging for families who qualify
- Coordination with Children's Special Health Care Services and Department of Human Services
- Maintaining a supply of donated wigs and other head coverings for cancer patients at the Wig Bank
- Notary Services at no charge
Our office is located in University Hospital, Room 2B203, which is near the Gift Shop and Cashier's Office. The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests may ask any hospital staff member to contact the GAP office, or we may be contacted directly at 734-764-6893 or toll free at 800-888-9825. During non-working hours, you have the option of leaving a message. Someone will contact you the next working day.
