Policies Governing Exercise & Relaxation Classes

  1. Persons joining MFit Exercise and Relaxation Classes can always pay by check or credit card. University of Michigan employees may choose payroll deduction.

  2. All participants MUST sign-in at the beginning of each class. Latecomers should sign-in as soon as they arrive, and before they join the group.

  3. 15-Visit Punchcards can be used to participate in any 100 level class at any location. Please be aware, however, that MFit may not be able to allow punchcards to be used in classes which have a full roster of registered, paid participants.

  4. MFit encourages participants to drink water during class; however, it is important to leave plastic water bottles to the side of the room where they will not be a hazard. In order to avoid spills, please do not leave the water right next to you.

  5. Tennis/running shoes must be worn during class. You may NOT wear socks alone or go barefoot in any classes, with the exception of the Yoga and T'ai Chi classes.

  6. In fairness to instructors and other participants, refunds can be given in only three instances:
    • In cases of injury or illness.
    • Transfer, move, job or schedule change.
    • In cases where the fitness level required by the class proves inappropriate for the participant. Participants should make this decision within the first two weeks they are in class.

  7. MFit reserves the right to cancel any class that attracts fewer than 10 participants. Decisions will be made at the close of the first week of classes, based on the number of registered participants.

  8. Make-up classes will be scheduled ONLY in the case of an instructor's absence. If a make-up session cannot be scheduled, MFit will provide a discount on the price of a new class in the following session. If a participant misses his/her registered class, he/she cannot substitute another class or section for the class they missed.

  9. If, due to instructor illness, a class must be canceled on the day it is scheduled, MFit will make every effort to contact registered participants via email and voicemail.

  10. If you are participating in a Yoga or Pilates class, you will want to bring a mat and/or towel.
